2019年2月にリリースされたサード・アルバム『不完全なけもの』と同時にリリースの情報が公開となった、マヒトゥ・ザ・ピーポーのフォース・アルバム『やさしい哺乳類』がリリースとなる。当フォース・アルバムには、前作に続き、寺尾紗穂、カルロスらのゲスト陣が楽曲に彩りを加え、今作では鎮座DOPENESSをM-2「まだあの海が青かったころ」にフィーチャリング。また、今作では自身のバンド、GEZANの人気曲M-6「待夢」のアコースティックカバーを収録している。
